Shelapani is situated at a height of 7500 fts, in the north central Mandhol village in jubbal tehsil 85 km from
shimla town. The place had been founded in 1910 and incorporated in 1953.
According to a legend Shelapani (cold water ) got its name after a natural spring water, flowing since the
place was discovered 1n 1910 by the area Namberdar Gopi chand Khimta .Because it was the time of
global change in the economy, the impact was on this place too .People started planting apple trees
leaving the agricultural business aside . According to the story! mr chand said, “The water can
digest the stones .”
Shelapani is a tourist and commercial area because of its marvelous landscapes, fishing in mountain, and a lot of natural spaces for hiking, camping, cycling, horseback riding and skiing. Shelapani does not hosts a variety of exquisite shops, restaurants and entertainment for each tourist rather give them the nature delight in peaceful environment and healthy atmosphere far from the crowd. Fishing is very popular in pabber river valley, Himalayas ,snow bounded Mountain Lake and Recreation Area. Snow skiing can be practiced at shelapani jungle on the badrol Mountain .
Shelapani’s pine forest was endangered in 1953 by a large village fire,and after from de-forestation. Because people needed wood for house construction, but some how managed to be saved .
Shelapani offers plenty of tourist attractions. 1.5 km a beautiful jungle walk and wonderful PWD rest house and mandhol village with ancient Mahasu temple. West of Shelapani can be admired vast apple orchards which looks beautiful in apple season time. On top of that, Shelapani ows a beautiful bungalow built in european style and one of its kind in whole of Himachal Pradesh & other community facilities include a library,fire place ,fish pond ,badminton court,grassy lawns,jogging path ,wonderful views ,modular kitchen,and all modern amenities, a lot of picnic spots and historical places .
